How to convert HEIC, PNG and WebP pictures to JPG, PDF and more
iPhones save photos as HEIC, many websites save pictures as WebP or AVIF, cameras save RAW, and plenty of tools still only accept JPG or PNG. This free converter changes the format of your pictures in a few seconds, with no account and no upload.
It runs in your browser, so the pictures stay on your phone or computer. Drop in one picture or a whole folder, choose JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, TIFF, ICO or PDF, and download the results one by one, as a ZIP, or merged into a single PDF.
How to convert pictures
Choose the format you want: JPG for photos that need to open everywhere, PNG when you need transparency or no quality loss, WebP or AVIF for smaller files on websites, or PDF to turn pictures into pages.
Drop your pictures into the box, or tap it to pick files from your phone or computer. Conversion starts straight away and you see the old and new file size for every picture.
Open More options to change quality, set a maximum file size, resize, rotate, flip, make the picture black and white, or choose what happens to camera details and GPS location. Then download a single file, or use the ZIP button to take everything at once.
Which format should you pick?
JPG is the safe choice for photographs and the format almost every app, printer and email service accepts. Lower the quality slider a little to make files smaller; 85 to 90 percent is hard to tell apart from the original.
PNG keeps every pixel and any transparent areas, which suits logos, screenshots and graphics. The files are larger than JPG.
WebP gives smaller files than JPG at the same look, so it suits websites. A few older programs still cannot open it.
Private by design
Your pictures are converted inside your browser. They are not sent to our servers and nothing is stored.
Photos carry hidden data: the camera, the date, and often the GPS location where you took them. By default the converter removes all of it, which is useful before you post a photo publicly. If you want to keep it, you can keep the camera details but still remove the GPS location, or keep everything. Only JPG files can carry this data.
Sharing event photos instead?
If you are collecting photos from a wedding, trip or party, you do not need to convert anything by hand. Pixeva converts HEIC pictures automatically when guests upload, and guests can find every photo of themselves with a selfie.
Frequently asked questions
- How do I convert HEIC to JPG for free?
- Open the converter, choose JPG, and drop in your HEIC photos. They convert in your browser in a few seconds and you can download them one by one or as a ZIP. No account is needed.
- Are my pictures uploaded when I convert them?
- No. The conversion runs on your own device, so your pictures never leave it and nothing is stored on our servers.
- Does converting reduce the quality of my photos?
- PNG is lossless. For JPG and WebP you control the quality with a slider; at 85 to 90 percent the difference from the original is hard to see while the file is much smaller. Converting a JPG to JPG again does lose a little quality each time, so keep your original.
- Which formats can I convert?
- You can convert HEIC, JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, SVG and ICO pictures, and camera RAW files such as CR2, CR3, NEF, ARW and DNG, to JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, TIFF, ICO or PDF. TIFF and JPEG XL inputs work in browsers that can open them, such as Safari. Animated GIFs keep only their first frame.
- Can I convert many pictures at once?
- Yes. Add up to 200 pictures at a time and download them together as one ZIP file.
- Does the converter keep GPS location and camera details?
- You choose. By default it removes all hidden data, including the GPS location. In More options you can keep the camera details and date but still erase the GPS location, or keep everything. Only JPG files can carry this data.
- How do I make an image smaller than 200 KB?
- Choose JPG, WebP or AVIF, open More options, and type the largest file size you want, for example 200 KB. The converter lowers the quality only as far as needed to fit, and tells you if the picture has to be made smaller as well.
- Can I turn several pictures into one PDF?
- Yes. Choose PDF, add your pictures, and use Merge into one PDF. You can pick the page size (the picture size, A4 or US Letter), the orientation and a margin.
- Can I make a favicon or app icon?
- Yes. Choose ICO and tick the sizes you need, such as 16, 32, 48 and 256 pixels. All the sizes go into one icon file.
