EXIF metadata
EXIF metadata is the information a camera embeds in each photo file, such as capture time, camera and lens model, and exposure settings.
EXIF is how software knows a photo was taken at 19:42 with a 35mm lens at f/1.8. Editing tools, catalogues, and galleries all read it.
For an event gallery, capture time is the important field: it orders the gallery correctly even when files arrive out of sequence over FTP or from multiple cameras.
Pixeva preserves EXIF on uploaded and FTP-tethered photos.
