FTPS
Also called: FTP over TLS, secure FTP
FTPS is the File Transfer Protocol with a TLS encryption layer, so the login and the files are protected in transit.
Plain FTP sends credentials and data in the clear. FTPS wraps the same protocol in TLS — the same encryption used for HTTPS — so a camera uploading over a venue network is not exposing its password or photos.
It is distinct from SFTP, which is a different protocol built on SSH. Most camera manufacturers' Wi-Fi FTP implementations support FTPS.
Pixeva issues per-event FTPS credentials for camera tethering and rotates them when an event ends.
