The guide

How to compress an image to 100 KB

Many forms, job portals, exam sites and email services only accept pictures under a size limit, often 100 KB. This free tool shrinks JPG, PNG, WebP and HEIC pictures to 100 KB or less in your browser, with no account and no upload.

The limit is already set to 100 KB. Drop your pictures in, and you see the exact new size for each one.

Compress to 100 KB in three steps

Drop your pictures into the box above. The size limit is already set to 100 KB, and you can change it to another value such as 50 KB, 200 KB or 1 MB.

Each picture is shrunk to fit the limit. You see the old and new size straight away.

Download each one, or use the ZIP button for a whole batch.

How it gets under the limit

The tool lowers the quality first, which usually gets a photo under 100 KB with little visible change. If that is not enough, it can also make the picture a little smaller in pixels. You can switch that off in More options.

If a picture is already under the limit, it is kept as it is instead of being made worse.

Very large or very detailed photos may need to shrink in pixels to reach 100 KB. Check the result on screen before you use it.

Private by design

Frequently asked questions

How do I reduce an image to 100 KB?
Drop the picture into the tool above. The limit is set to 100 KB, so it is shrunk to fit and you can download the result straight away.
Will my picture look worse?
Slightly, since reducing file size means giving up some detail. The tool lowers quality only as much as needed to fit under the limit.
Can I compress to another size, like 50 KB or 200 KB?
Yes. Change the size limit in the tool to whatever you need, in KB or MB.
Are my pictures uploaded?
No. Compression happens in your browser, so your pictures stay on your device.
