Camera-to-Cloud FTP Tethering Guide: Instant Photo Delivery for Sony, Canon & Nikon

In modern event and wedding photography, speed is the ultimate differentiator. Clients and guests no longer want to wait weeks to see highlights from their event.

With Camera-to-Cloud (C2C) wireless FTP tethering, photographers can upload photos straight from their camera over Wi-Fi or a mobile hotspot directly to the cloud while shooting. The photos appear live on venue projection walls and in guest face-recognition galleries in seconds.

In this guide, we walk through how to configure your Sony, Canon, Nikon, or Fujifilm camera for seamless wireless FTP delivery with Pixeva.

Why Use Camera-to-Cloud FTP Tethering?

  1. Instant Client Delight: Guests can scan a table QR code and find their portraits taken just 60 seconds earlier.
  2. Interactive Live Photo Walls: Stream candid dance-floor and red-carpet shots directly to venue projector screens and LED displays.
  3. Automated Cloud Backup: Every captured photo is safely backed up to secure cloud storage instantly, protecting against SD card corruption.
  4. Zero Extra Hardware Required: Modern mirrorless cameras have built-in Wi-Fi and FTP clients; you do not need expensive external transmitters.

Pro Tips for Flawless Live Event Tethering

  • Shoot RAW + Small/Medium JPEG: Send small/medium JPEGs over FTP for sub-second cloud delivery and instant AI face matching, while saving full uncompressed RAW files to SD Slot 2 for post-event editing.
  • Use 5GHz Mobile Hotspots: 5GHz Wi-Fi tethering provides lower latency and faster throughput in crowded venues.
  • Enable AI Auto-Cull: Pixeva’s built-in AI Auto-Cull Assistant automatically filters test shots and closed-eye frames so only your best work reaches venue screens.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if I temporarily lose Wi-Fi connection?

Your camera buffers the photos on your SD card. As soon as the Wi-Fi or hotspot reconnects, the camera automatically resumes sending all queued photos without dropping any files.

Does camera tethering drain the camera battery?

Modern mirrorless cameras experience minimal battery impact (typically only a 5–10% difference across an entire day of shooting).
